Joana Durães is a multidisciplinary graphic designer based in Lisbon, Portugal, available worldwide.
My practice encompasses art direction, editorial design, exhibitions, visual identity and digital.
I have been working on a diverse range of projects with cultural organisations, educational institutions, contemporary artists, photographers, researchers, journalists and publishers.

 

NOMINATIONS
The book ‘Ce qu’il Reste’ was shortlisted for ADAGP MAD Artist Revelation Award and for the Best Photography Book Award for PhotoEspaña 2020, and received an honorable mention in the Stiftung Buchkunst ‘Best Book Design from all over the World’ competition at the DGLab Book Design Awards 2020.
The book ‘How to Fly’ (Dummy Edition) was shortlisted for Kassel/Beijing Fotobook Festival 2016 and received a special mention at Docfield Dummy Award. The Offset Edition was selected for the Stiftung Buchkunst ‘Best Book Design from all over the World’ competition and was shortlisted for the Best Photography Book of the Year Award in PhotoEspaña 2018.
The book ‘Eclipse’ was shortlisted for the Stiftung Buchkunst ‘Best Book Design from all over the World’ competition 2025.
‘Morais Soares Grand Prix’ by Pedro Guimarães was shortlisted for the Photo-Text Book Award, and Alba Zari’s book ‘Fear of Mirrors’ was shortlisted for the Authors Book Award at Les Rencontres d’Arles 2025.
The book ‘Ondes’ by Benedicte Blondeau was selected for the ΦΩΤΟBOOKS 2025 exhibition at Photometria Festival in Greece.
